VI COMMANDO

Lt. W. H. Barnes served with No.6 Commando from, at least, 5^th June 1944, when he was left in the UK as the Commando’s Rear Party Officer, joining the Commando in Normandy on 18^th July 1944, and was detailed to No.5 Troop. 

Serving with No.2 Troop from, at least, March 1945 he was wounded on the morning of 24^th March 1945 during a skirmish with counter-attacking German Panzer Grenadiers on the outskirts of Wesel.
